Dear Friend,
Congress is now back in
Washington, DC from its luxurious taxpayer-funded August vacation. This is not
good news.
Each
day Congress is in session they will spend about $20.8 billion dollars of your
hard-earned money. Meanwhile,
when Congress is on vacation, it only costs us about $255,000 per day. Isn’t it amazing that it is better for the American
taxpayer for Congress to go on a paid vacation than stay in our nation’s
Capitol and ‘work’?
While we unfortunately
can’t keep Congress away forever, NTU is working hard every day to protect your
money from the spendthrift politicians who get rich lining their own pockets
while frittering away our federal budget. Over the past year alone NTU has
lobbied Congress more than 250 times to reduce taxes and stop our runaway
spending. Our fight has brought many
victories for taxpayers, but we have a lot more work to do as 2012 comes to a
close.
It’s shameful that the
only time we can congratulate Congress on a ‘job well-done’ is when they do
nothing at all. If you agree, please make a contribution of $25, $50 or more to help NTU advocate for more fiscal
responsibility in Washington, and a balanced budget that doesn’t put America’s taxpayers in the poorhouse.
We’ve
had enough irresponsible spending, enough Congressional luxuries on the
taxpayer’s dime, and enough of the status quo.
With 362,000 members
nation-wide, NTU is poised to make sure your voice is heard loud and clear in
the halls of Congress, and we can tell them together that enough is ENOUGH!
Sincerely,
Duane Parde
President
National Taxpayers Union
P.S: We need your help to send a message to Congress today
to stop spending $20.8 billion a day of our money!
